Interview with The Braces!

-Who are The Braces?

TB: The Braces are 4 dudes who love punk music of all types and love playing it, whether it's to 1000 people or 5 people.

-What would you say keeps you guys going? I read you've been a band for 4 years or so.

TB: We didnt really take ourselves seriously at first we just played for fun it's only been about two years that we've been taking things seriously because we feel that our music is finally at the point where people who have never heard punk music or of punk music can get into it and yet its still somewhat classifiable as punk that's something we wanted to accomplish

-Awesome, Who are your biggest influences?

TB: In terms of ideals and beliefs the clash and minor threat in terms of music nofx, the clash, bad religion and osker in terms of lyrics elvis costello and the lawrence arms

-What are some of the things you have learned from being part of the punk scene?

TB: People have ego's and opinions that aren't based on fact or logic in the punk/hardcore/pop punk scene punk kids pride themselves on being open minded but most are close minded not to alienate a bunch of kids by stating that but I've seen a terrible band throw out a kid dynamite cover and have the hardcore kids eat it up and then a band right after covers lifetime who most hardcore kids don't know of and the hardcore kids dont give two shits (lifetime is the band that dan yemin was in prior to kid dynamite) on the other hand,I love punk kids/hardcore kids/pop punk kids a lot of them are really great guys once you get to know them and get their respect it is just irrationally hard to earn it

-Hmm, what are some of the things that you have noticed changed 5-10 years ago in the music scene?

TB: I remember my first show ever was with TSOL, Death By Stereo and Audio Karate when I was 13 in 2000. You would never see a show like that these days an 80's hardcore classic with a metalcore band and pop punk band and thats even probably a step below what it was like before my time everything is getting sectioned off I'd rather play to a bunch of eager eared 15 year old's than a bunch of nose to the air arms crossed 17 year olds who won't give a shit about you if you don't have a breakdown

-Lets get back to the band haha, What do you have recorded/released?

TB: We recorded and released our first LP ourselves when we didn't really know how to play our instruments but we didn't care we decided to do our second album ourselves after offers from a few producers because we felt like we would be able to make it how we wanted, instead of paying an excessive amount of money to get something we didnt want plus we were broke

-Haha, How many shows do you think you guys have played? Tell me about the best and worst show you guys have had.

TB: I've lost count our best show was definitely our CD release show for our last album we got to play with some of our best friends and it was amazing to hear everyone singing along plus we were in charge of booking it and running it so we got to do it how we wanted the worst show we've had was on tour in riverside we were playing with a bunch of hardcore bands and we had to run the sound ourselves because the venue didnt know what they were doing and we had to provide our own mics and duct tape them to the stands it wasnt bad because of that though that would have been fine but we played and pretty much everyone cleared the room but these two dudes and so i basically spent the rest of the show pretending that these two guys were our biggest fans and when we got off stage one of the guys was like "youre a fucking dick onstage, I wanted to sock you"

-When writing songs, where do you get your inspiration for lyrics?

TB: It depends I know that our bassist Fern takes a lot of inspiration from things that are currently going on in his life I think it varies for me Some of the songs on our album were about things that happened to me a long time ago and others were written two weeks before we recorded I wrote the entire song "I'd Rather Be Hot" stuck in traffic on the 101 freeway on the way home from work then figured out the melody on ukulele because that's all I had at my apartment and then from there worked it into guitar.

-What would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard of you.

TB: haha thats so tough, Poppy Punk that isn't necessarily pop punk and isnt necessarily punk. I guess if I were to use bands... It's a mix between Blink 182, Bad Religion, Lifetime, and Jawbreaker.

-Are there any upcoming tours for The Braces?

TB: No tours planned, but we want to play as many tours this year as possible so if any band reads this and wants to go out on tour with us let us know and we'll start planning.

-Who is Hide The Details?

-How many shows have you played so far? What was the most memorable one and is there any you consider to be a total wreck?

HTD: we played 7 shows so far and most memorable was probably was our first soma show cause we played with most of the bands were really cool with.. the total wrecked one was when we drove all the way to yuma arizona from chula vista and we showed up we found out it was canceled haha that sucked and it was like 100 degrees outside at night

-Lame! Well the one in Yuma haha,What are some best and worst memories connected with the band?

HTD: worst memory was when we went to spend the night at freddys house and his brother pulled out a m-16 on us and told us to get out lol best memories when we spend the night at eachother houses and get super hyper off candy and redlines and write songs and forget it the next day haha..

-Fuck spending the night at peoples house now right? haha... For people that never listened or heard of you guys out there. Give us a few reasons they should.

HTD: haha at least not his house anymore hahaha, because were gangster and write thuggish music that people like.. word

-Im down for that. What do you want listeners to experience while listening to your songs?

HTD: an orgasam haha to sing along and head bang

-If you guys could have a 'DREAM' tour who would you play with and where would you tour?

HTD: we would tour with blink 182 of course and tour the whole world till we die

-What are some of the most HILARIOUS moments for (Band)? Inside jokes?

HTD: idk we have to many

Interview with All Is Fleeting!

-Who is All is Fleeting? Where are you from? How did you all meet? Did you know each other before AIF?

AIF: All is Fleeting is Riley, John,Jaycen, Austin, and Tim(me). The majority of the band is originally from Ojai,Ca (john,riley,austin) but i am from Carpinteria (ten minutes south of Santa Barbara) and Jaycen is from Oxnard. I met the "Ojai crew" at sound and fury 2006 i think? we eventually started a band called Can I Say which eventually molded into All is Fleeting with the addition of Jaycen.

-How would you describe your overall sound?

AIF: i feel we are floating around somewhere in the space between melodic hardcore and pop punk. maybe alternative? i'm horrible with matching sounds to genres.

-What does AIF stand for? What central theme do the lyrics revolve around?

AIF: All is Fleeting was actually a band before I sang for it so the original meaning is unknown. Jaycen is the only original member but i doubt he knows either haha.

-What does AIF have under their belt? Time to brag fellas, aha.

AIF: oh well actually we once played a show with The Kids of Widney High (featured in the movie The Ringer) on the fourth of July at 11:00am. probably the best show we have ever played. oh and we did a weekend not too long ago with our friends in Title Fight. That was the most fun becuase it was just like 12 of us in an rv going wild.

-What has been some of the most MEMORABLE shows up to date?

maybe about a year ago at this venue called the lab in oxnard we accidentally headlined. Those two weekend shows with TF were great as well.

-If you guys could have a 'DREAM' tour who would you play with and where would you tour?

AIF: I've never been out of the U.S. but i hear its the best country so here it is.

full US tour featuring. downpresser/swamp thing/minus/nay sayer/title fight/backtrack/all is fleeting.

i was thinking about some crazy shit with like the foo fighters or something but a u.s. tour with all of my friends that are in bands would top anything. honestly if that ever happens this is my electronic signature to put me out to pasture after the tour. it wouldn't get any better than that.

-What are some of the most HILARIOUS moments for AIF? Inside jokes?

AIF: Dwarfs smuggling moose munch.

-Who are your favorite bands around your area?

AIF: Downpresser

-What should AIF fans be excited for in the next couple months?

AIF: We are playing a record release show for our seven inch called " Stay Awake" in Murrieta mid feb.

-What do you guys love to eat? Any particular places you remember from being on tour that you'll never forget?

AIF: tasty red

Interview with Second to Last!

-Hey whats up guys? So what can you say about Second to Last? Where are you from?

STL: Hmmm.Well I can tell you that we are five kids all 18 and under that are from Lodi,CA which is about 30 minutes south of Sacramento.We've been together with this line-up since July of 2009.

-July 2009? WOW you guys have sure made progress since then haha. Whats coming up for you guys with the band?

STL: Haha.Yes, I guess you could say that.Well we're about to go into the studio with our good friend Scott Goodrich of Hear The Sirens to record a tour exclusive EP that everyone can pick up on our west coast tour from March 16th-27th and on Anchor Eighty Four's webstore.The tour starts in San Diego and ends in Olympia,WA.After tour we plan on hitting the studio again to put out a split with our brothers in The Story So Far that will be out late spring.And from there on out we hope to be on the road as much as possible.

-That sounds like a PLAN, What do you guys like to listen on a regular basis? Influences?

STL: Oh boy.I can honestly say that the band we are constantly listening to and are influenced by are The Movielife.That band means alot to us and has a huge influence on our sound.Right now Mark and I have been wearing out our friends in The Wonder Years new record.It's awesome and they're a bunch of super rad guys.Personally some of the bands I listen to on a regular basis are Descendents,The Bouncing Souls,Brand New,Crime In Stereo and Strike Anywhere.

-Yeah I heard about you guys playing their Record Release Show for The Upsides, legit. Whats the most memorable show you guys have played?

STL: Well honestly,not just to sound sappy or cheesy,but in some way just about every show has been memorable to us.Just to be able to be playing shows regularly and have kids show up and buy merch or sing our songs or whatever it may be is special.But these last two shows we did this week have been memorable.To be able to play with and be able to get to know a band like The Wonder Years that I've been listening to since freshmen year is super cool.We just played a show with The Story So Far to 300 kids in their hometown and that was a blast as well.

-HAHA thats sickk, What does Second to Last have under their belt?

STL: Haha what do you mean?Besides our three gold records and our tour coming up with brokencyde?

-Thats exactly what I'm talking about! haha well, What can STL brag about? Lets see how well you can brag fellas. =]

STL: Haha.Ohh geeze.We don't have a whole lot.For the most part all i can say that I'm proud of is that we try our best to work hard and put out music that's honest and not just catchy or that's going to sell well.That's about all haha.Annddd maybe the fact that our town has some gorgeous women.

-HAHA, What do you guys do on your free time? Work? School?

STL: Well four of us are still in highschool and our guitarist is taking online courses at a local community college.So that's pretty much what we do or in most cases don't spend time doing.On our free time we hang out with friends,go to shows,or get boners off Avatar.We're pretty normal kids as far as our activities go.

-NICE, What are the lyrics about mainly? What message do you guys try to send to the average kid out there?

STL: Well I'd say that we just or I just try to be honest.The lyrics are about everything a 17 would be angry about.A shitty scene,school,girls,the town we live in.I think if someone were to read our lyrics they'd be able to get a glimpse of what we're about and what we stand for and are against and everything in between.

Interview with Paper Tigers!

-What can you tell me about Paper Tigers? Who plays what? When did you form? Where are you from?

PT: Paper tigers is a genuine rock group from Los Angeles,CA. We just play what we feel, and try to keep our music as real and fresh as possible, we try avoiding being put in a sub-genre. We're a 4 piece, Eric Cano on drums, Alan Littrell on bass, Jordan Juan on guitar and vocals, and Eddie Gonzalez on guitar and vocal. We formed in December of 2009.

-What does Paper Tigers have going on right now since you're SO new to the area?

PT: Well we just released our demos on myspace in January, we're staring to play shows now this month, our first one@ The Blvd in Paramount,CA. Everything's going according to schedule for us. We keep writing, and just practicing. Hopefully people will appreciate us haha

-Have the members been in previous bands? How much experience does each member have with their instrument?

PT: We've each played in Night Crawler, formerly known as Legion, Alan and Jordan still continue on with them. Alan's been in various bands over the years, too many to list. I used to tour and play locally with Tiefighter. We each know our instruments pretty well, Eric's still new to drums, but he's doing great, he definatley gets the job done

-Legit. When do you think you guys will tour if you end up doing so?

PT: Well to be honest, touring is a plan, but its hard to tell how soon we'll be leaving, but im sure it'll be sometime this year.

-Yes it is a plan. So how did you guys meet and come up with the idea of Paper Tigers?

PT: Wow, well I've known Eric for nearly 9 years already, we met in middle school, but didn't start really hanging out till my Freshman year, or end of 8th grade. We had a few projects, but nothing ever serious. But the real origin of PT is from me and Jordan. We just wanted to do something different, something that was new, and at the time I was till in Night Crawler, so we asked Alan several times to come play, but nothing was ever set in stone. Us 3 talked about the project for a good 3 months before actually getting together, not having a drummer was a set back. Eric offered several times to play, and we decided we all needed each other for the band, and the first practice everything fell into place, we wrote " yours Truly" with in 1 hr.

-Haha dope, What are the lryics about? Whats the 'message' that PT is trying to give?

PT: I wish I could tell you what the lyrics were about, but I honestly don't know how to explain them. We just want our fans to hear the words and feel the message or emotion. Our message, well personally, my message to everyone is to just be yourself and do what you want, don't just say you're different, show you're different. As a band we wanted to just play, do what we were feeling and not what everyone was saying or telling us to do. So I guess you could say we all feel the same.

- I like it, What do you guys do when you're not with the band? On your 'alone' time.

PT: Well Jordan and Alan play with Night Crawler. We all go to school, everyones in school, most of us work. I keep on writing, whether it be for PT or other projects I might get involved in or just for the fun of writing.

- Sounds good haha well I can't wait till you guys play some shows in th So-Cal area because I'll be there to support! THANKS FOR THE INTERVIEW Any last words?

Interview with Still Rings True!

-Who are you and what do you do for Still Rings True?

SRT: I'm Dave, I play drums in the band.

-How long have you guys been together? Did you know eachother before SRT?

SRT: We've been a band for almost 2 years now. We all knew each other through local scenes and shit. And me and josh actually hated each other, but one day his friend hit me up asked to start a band and I realized he was going to be a part of it haha, so I met up with him and caught a fancy dinner at Denny's haha, and we became close after that...we started the band as a 4-piece, but after a series of member changes, and people leaving the band, we picked up Leo on bass and became a three peice, and since it has just stuck, and its rad as hell!

-Tight! haha, What has been the funniest moment with SRT?

SRT: haha, i remember one distinct incident hahaha... I remember we were at leo's aunts house in Michigan on tour, and we were playing "HORSE" with tricks on a trampoline...and i did this one where I had to spread my legs out mad far, and at the peak of the leg spread, i just ripped the gnarliest ass ever, and we couldn't stop laughing for about an hour

-Haha, thats hilarious! Since I live on the westcoast i have no idea how a SRT show is, how would you describe one of your shows?

SRT: well...its funny, cause alot of times, eople that have never heard of us before, i feel look at us like "oh wow, these dudes are a three-peice psh...they can't be that great"...but from the moment we start, we have a HUGE energetic sound that makes people instantly get into it and have a good time. We bright alot of energy for a trio, and we also have very melodic riffs and vocals in my opinion, both leo and josh up front are singing their hearts out and rocking the fuck out at the same time ya know. So really, at the end of the show, people usually are pretty stoked on us, and I'd like to think that means they had a good time haha which is really all we can hope for.

-I really want to see you guys! Any westcoast tours you guys are planning to do?

SRT: we actually are looking to possibly come west coast this summer! we are just trying to find a rad band to come out with for a bit, but the possibilities are definitely very good

-That sounds good to me haha :] So how stoked are you guys for the new record? When will it be released? How many tracks are going to be on it?

SRT: We are completely stoked on the new record, in jan. '09 when we became a trio full time, we realized we'd have to re-write a whole new record as a trio, and in doing so, we wrote way better songs...just big, catchier, more 'real' songs, so im competely stoked that we did that we are releasing it on Feb 27th, but we actually have a pre-order up now for it. if you go to www.myspace.com/stillringstrue and click on our top banner, you can pre-order the album full of ten awesome (in my opinion) tracks for only $7.99 and get our EP for free! so basically we are giving away all our recorded songs for $7.99

-That sounds great! Whats in store for the future? What can fans expect the next couple months(other than the record)?

SRT: Expect just a bigger 'presence' from our band, more touring, more places online to access us and our music, more merch available online for everyone, and just hopefully a bunch more fun, cool shows, and rad people supporting and sporting our songs!

-What has been your favorite show you've done with SRT so far?

SRT: hands down the first tour we were ever on. the first day of tour was our 3rd show ever, and this was a national tour...we were in Ashville, OH on day four of the tour, and we show up to this small ass town and think "fuck, shit show is not going to be cool at all", it ends up, a TON of people show up, the owner of the venue lays us out a spread of pizza and fresh-made sandwiches, a drunk guy came on stage and handed us a $100 bill, we sold a TON of merch, and made SOOOO many diehard fans that night. It was just such a cool thing to happen to us, so far from home, so early in the start of our band.

-DAMN that sounds amazing. REALLY! haha, I'm planning to goto New York this summer just because I don't travel much. What are some spots I should check out?

SRT: well i mean, definitely check out the city haha, there's always something to see and do, i mean the niagra falls are pretty amazing too, other than that man, haha LOTS of farm land

-Haha, I can't wait. Well I know we passed 1:30 am, so I'm going to let you go and shit, THANKS FOR THE INTERVIEW. Any last words?

SRT: haha, yea, I just wanna say...there's so much more music than politics, clothing, styles...those things all burn out, but passion never will...bands that really make an impression in peoples minds and bands that have the ability to truly move someone are ones that write from the heart, and not ones who are deliberately trying to sell-out and write "hits". i strongly believe the best music in the world is music that you can feel, music that just slaps you in the face with emotion and intensity...fake music, like every other fad in the world, just fades away.

-I couldn't have said it better myself. haha.
